13 September 2007 Today was the opening of the new season and to kick it off we played Redcar. With high hopes for this season and a feeling of anticipation we were ready for what we hoped would be an easy win. Redcar however had other ideas. Redcar started off strong and looked well organised and soon took the lead. A goal down soon woke Trimdon up and after a change of tactics and a substitution in the form of Kieran Storey the tables began to turn. Kieran Storey made a huge impact to the game and brought the forwards into play and even managed to bag a goal for himself to bring us level. The score 1-1. Well done Kieran! It wasn’t long before Redcar scored again leaving us with a fight on our hands. However an impressive free kick from our very own ‘free kick’ Sam soon levelled us out making the score 2-2. Well done Sam! Unfortunate for us history repeated itself and again we found ourselves behind with Redcar scoring yet again. Trimdon never gave up and looking dangerous we were able to come back again with yet another Goal from Kieran Storey. Trimdon now with the taste for success were delighted when Luke Walton scored to make it 4-3. Well done Luke! This should have been the winning goal however with minutes to spare Redcar came back and snatched a goal with the final result 4-4. This was a very fast pace game and in all fairness to Redcar who contributed to the excitement of the game, a draw was probably a good reflection of the match. Kieran Hendo who was captain for the day had good game and Sam deservedly got man of the match. Well done to all the lads for an impressive performance and a great start to the season. Keep it up! Our next match is a cup tie at home against Leven. Can all players please arrive at 1.15 pm prompt and ready for another successful game! To read the 2006/2007 newsletters click here. |
