27th September 2007 With yet another home game this week we played host to Acklam, who have come from division three, bringing along with them a good reputation and they certainly lived up to it. The beginning of the first half started off with play generally half and half. Trimdon managed to hold their own, with some hard tackling going down. However it was unfortunate that Acklam managed to score and we found ourselves behind. Acklam then pressed harder and another goal came just before half time. We kept pushing forward and fighting on and were unlucky to miss a chance from a free kick that hit the cross bar. Half time score 2-0. With The second half only minutes old, Acklam put another goal away. However, this only spurred the lads into action and we began to pass the ball about and communicate and it paid off with a goal from Sam. Well done Sam! With this we continued to fight back and managed another goal from the impressive Jono. Well done Jono! Despite our run of goals and accurate passing Acklam remained on the attack and managed to score three further goals. The final score 6-2. Although this was a big defeat we still held our own and gave a good Acklam side the run about. This was a positive display of football. The back four lads in defence all played well, despite ‘dirty’ Dan’s yellow card on a suspicious tackle. Ryan and Jono put a good performance in and worked hard in midfield. Luke Walton took man of the match for a fine tireless performance. Well done Luke! Finally, well done to all the lads, we really need to keep our heads up and reflect on this performance. The season is just beginning and already we are looking strong. If we keep working as a team and talking to each other it will come good in the end. Note to parents: As the nights are drawing in our training sessions will soon be moving to Sedgefield. It is therefore important to sort out transport for your child. More information will follow nearer to the time. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the parents for the ongoing support. To read the 2006/2007 newsletters click here. |
