TRIMDON UNITED NEWSLETTER FOUR
2nd October 2007

The game against Thirsk Falcons who at the beginning of last season slaughtered us 13-2 had the makings of a good match, especially as Trimdon had a point to prove and we were not disappointed.

The game started off immediately at a fast pace and seeing most of the play in the midfield. The first goal came from a ‘Sam’ corner ball which was volleyed into the net by Kieran Storey. Well done Kieran! Not long after that number two came from another corner and found its way into the net from Ryan who was working very hard in midfield. Well done Ryan! Trimdon managed to hold this lead to half time. Half time score 2-0.

The second half saw the fast pace continue with Trimdon dominating play and Thirsk unable to get the ball out of their area. It was no surprise when Luke Walton who must have covered every blade of grass scored number three. Well done Luke W! At 3-0 we were confident the game was dead and buried however Thirsk had other ideas and continued to attack creating havoc in the defence. Thirsk managed to pull back two well deserved goals. This in turn created a panic and it seemed we couldn’t get the ball out of our half! Thankfully nerves were rested when Callum knocked in number four. Well done Callum!

So at 4-2 and the tempo still running high it was bad luck when Thirsk came back and knocked in number three. With three minutes to go and everybody on edge, Trimdon broke free and from a deep cross Callum dived to head the ball in the net to give us number five. Well done Callum! With that the whistle went and final score 5-3 to Trmdon.

This was an amazing display of football and thoroughly entertaining. Well done to all the players who all contributed to our first win of the season. Once again the defence held strong and Luke Casson, who never put a foot wrong, saved the lads several times. Jack, Lanky and Danny also put in a solid performance. Well done to Kieran Storey who had an excellent game and walked away with man of the match. Hopefully this is the start of things to come and we’re on our way up from now on. Well done all of you!
