TRIMDON UNITED NEWSLETTER SIX
18th October 2007

Our game against Acklam FC was our first away match but our second meeting with a very professional Acklam side, who turned us over at the beginning of the season therefore we should have had revenge in mind. Only problem was we never turned up!

Right from the very start Acklam pinned us back and within five minutes they were 2-0 up and that was just the edge of the iceberg. For the majority of the first half we never got a look in apart from a free kick from Sam that was a good effort but the cool Acklam keeper had it under control. Lanky who at times seemed to be the only man on the pitch got us out of several sticky situations. Still struggling to get into the game we found ourselves 4-0 down at half time.

After a team talk we slowly began to wake up and show a bit of fight however it took another two Acklam goals before we managed to get on to the score sheet with a goal from Luke Walton who managed to slip past the advancing keeper. With a little bit of faith restored we pressed on and Louis who stepped up in defence was looking good till a nasty tackle resulted in him being carried off.  To add insult to injury Acklam then went on the score yet again. Final score 7-1.

This was a very poor performance all round with the majority of the team not switched on. Luke Walton never gave up and Lanky had an absolute blinder and due to his impressive performance he walked away with man of the match and very well deserved. Well done Lanky!

So after a disastrous match lets hope that was our bad performance out of the way and we can now look forward to the rest of the season. We have our reputation to fight for now! Come on lads we can do it.

A big thanks to the parents who travelled to support the lads, yet again we made a good turn out. Don’t forget to let Steve know if you are interested in the night out in Darlington.
