TRIMDON UNITED NEWSLETTER EIGHT
1st November 2007

Today we played in the County Cup against Consett Vipers who are top of the division in their league. With a lot of apprehension in the air we were preparing ourselves for a slaughtering. How wrong we were!!

The first half started well for a determined Trimdon and we pushed forward and punished the Vipers defence with Tom Lawson and Sam scoring two goals in the first five minutes. With a fast flowing match this lead continued with Tom Lawson scoring a hatrick and Luke adding two to the list. The final goal of the half came from Kieran Storey. The half time score 7-0.

The second half saw Trimdon repeating a winning performance and instead of sitting back the lads pushed on to seek more goals and how they flowed. Sam opened the scoring shortly followed by Tom Lawson again knocking in a further two goals. Luke not to be outdone also bagged himself another two goals. Consett never gave up and battled on but we were on a roll and the goals kept coming in the form of Casper and Danny, scoring his first two goals for Trimdon. The final score a massive 15-0 and a record score for Trimdon United!

The goals scored do tend to steal the headlines however this display was a team effort with the midfield both creative and strong. The defence when called upon proved to be robust and impregnable. A big well done to each one of you and a huge morale boost to the team in general especially as it is the first time we have gone through to the third round of the County Cup. Man of the match went to Danny for a skilful performance. Well done Dan!

Finally thank you to the parents and players who came back to the club house for drinks and nibbles. Credit should also be given to the Vipers for showing good sportsmanship and mixing in with us afterwards despite being disappointed. The raffle raising £21 for club funds and the prize winners were from Consett Vipers.
