TRIMDON UNITED NEWSLETTER TWENTY ONE

Trimdon U13 v Middleton Rangers Away

A cold day at Teesside airport for the return match against Rangers, the Trimdon side had only 11 men to call on but were brimming with confidence after the recent great performance against St Francis.

Trimdon kick off with the wind behind them and are immediately on the offensive keeping Rangers in their half from the off. Dominance is rewarded in only 2 minutes when Jack Fannan scores the first goal.  Good shots from Luke Walton and Fannan go wide, and then a great piece of supply work from Sam Noble to feed Fannan again but the shot is saved well this time on 7 minutes. Next good work from Ryan Willis in mid field gets the ball to Sam who tees it up for Fannan to get his second goal in the 8th minute. It’s looking easy with the poor Rangers lads not in it at all. Great efforts from Ryan then Jonno Clemmett (who has made a welcome return to the team) on 10 minutes are saved but Luke W picks up the loose ball and knocks one in to go 3 up. The mid field are doing some great work with Ryan and Casper Summerbell feeding the forwards some excellent balls and Big Jonno is making some great breaks through on goal from deep. Great work by Danny Williams on 20 minutes skilfully knocking the ball to Luke Casson who in turn, back heels and ‘megs’ the Rangers midfielder – Jonno picks it up and races to goal but shoots just wide. Rangers get some relief when a minute later they get a lone break on goal and score a well taken shot to bring the deficit down to 3 -1. Trimdon stung into action reply immediately with Jonno running through and chipping the keeper to go to 4 – 1. Tom Lawson between the sticks today kicks the ball from end to end and Luke W has another effort just slide by on 26 minutes – good vision. The Rangers defenders are not clearing their lines and Sam has another effort slide by on 27 minutes. Second half ends 4 -1 with Trimdon obviously the better team and no hope for Rangers of recovery.

Second half and in the second minute a perfectly delivered corner from Sam is nodded in by Jonno to claim his second goal 5 – 1. Decent work from Jack Cairns in the centre of the park gets the ball to Luke W on the left and then on to Jack Fannan who get another goal – 6 – 1. Minutes later and another big kick from Tom Lawson reaches Sam who knocks on to Luke Walton and he claims his second of the match. 7 – 1.

7 minutes in and a good piece of skill from Luke C feeds Sam who cleverly chips then rounds the keeper to get his name on the sheet with a Gazza like goal and it’s  8- 1 . After 15 minutes some hard work from their Captain who gets a good shot off from 18 yards but it just clears the bar.  18 minutes into the second half and a break from Middleton on the right is crossed into the box and flies into the goal despite a valiant effort and acrobatic clearance attempt Luke C is unable to get behind the ball to clear and the score is now 8 – 2. Trimdon counter well with Casper flying down the right side in a solo run and shoots hard only to hit the post – unlucky. Middleton did get another somewhere in the second half but Trimdon are unstoppable and when Jack Fannan works hard on 20 minutes out on the left – he centres the ball and Ryan buries it to go 9 – 3 up it’s just too easy. Cruising now – Trimdon just canter to the finish line. Lanky Clarke makes a great clearance on 25 minutes up to Fannan whose effort just flies over the bar and a couple more good efforts before the final whistle but it was an easy day of work today and Trimdon’s tally could have been in the late teens.

MOM – a solid team performance today with good performances from a number of players. Fannan, big Sam and Ryan were excellent but settled on the next 2 names:

Jonno on a successful return – solid, strong and dependable – great headers and good goals

Casper Summerbell who tackled hard, supplied well and had a couple of excellent solo runs
