Trimdon Gateway Improvements

Groundwork East Durham, in partnership with the Joint Trimdon Regeneration Partnership, is working on a project to improve the gateways into all four Trimdon Villages.

Funding has been secured to create a village marker stone at the main points of entrance and exit to the villages. These sculpted works will be accompanied by a range of basic environmental improvements to include, fence repairs, hedge infill and bulb planting, which will further enhance the entrances and complement the sculpted works.

A well known stone mason, David Edwick, has been chosen to work with the community and develop the designs. David has worked extensively in the region and his commissions include the Millennium Cross at Trimdon Village and the Ringing Stone on Trimdon Millennium Green.

Over the last few months David has been consulting with the partnership, local residents, Trimdon Juniors and Deaf Hill primary on ideas for the gateway features. The first drafts can be seen below:
